WordPress optimisation for Kenniscentrum LVB

A slow WordPress site with over eighty publications that Google barely found. We cleaned up the technical foundation, restructured the knowledge library and taught the team to publish without an agency in between.

The client's question

Eighty publications, zero discoverability.

Kenniscentrum LVB shares knowledge about mild intellectual disability, a topic that affects roughly 1.1 million people in the Netherlands. Employers, teachers, healthcare professionals, family members and the justice system all rely on it for information. That knowledge sits on the site in over eighty reports, courses, videos and a digital magazine. But the site was slow and the publications were not recognisable to Google as individual pieces of content, which meant hundreds of valuable pages remained unfindable. On top of that, every change had to go through the previous agency, costing money and weeks of lead time each time.

Our technical approach

Our solution

We started with the technical layer. Page-load times brought down, templates and database cleaned up, and the content converted to a structured model with ACF and custom post types. This allowed Google to index the eighty-plus publications individually rather than treating them as attachments to a page. We then rebuilt the knowledge library in Elementor, with filters, download tracking and reusable blocks. Finally, we trained the team so that new publications now go live within a day instead of after a request to an agency.

From technology to use

What we built

  • Filterable knowledge library with 80+ publications on custom post types
  • Download tracking per document, visible in GA4
  • KPI dashboard for reporting to funders
  • Reusable Elementor blocks with fixed calls to action
  • Speed gains through caching, structured data and clean templates
